I stayed a month at Monica's. All the while Monty called and called; leaving threatening messages on my phone or on text messages. After a few weeks of that, I got a restraining order against him. I decided I needed to leave Boston at that point. He was never going to leave me alone. I contacted a design firm in Atlanta that had expressed interest in me when I was back in school. I asked if they still had an opening. They did and off to Atlanta I went. I left two months after the attack, never looking back. I know it hurt Eihblin and Shamus that I moved away. Sometimes you need a new start. So I came here. I worked for the Destiny Design firm for a year and then struck out on my own. You know the rest..." Cormac deflated in front of him. Like a huge weight had been lifted off him.

"And I hit you...GOD I AM SUCH AN ASS!" Addison mentally smacked himself. He didn't know Cormac's history. Without realizing it, Addison had hit a man that had been beaten by the man who supposedly loved him. "Hey, it's okay. I know you didn't mean to. You were just trying to make me jump. I know you never meant to connect. I unfortunately moved the wrong way." He patted Addison’s arm. "Sides, I was a total douchebag and deserved it." He tapped Addison on the nose to get his attention. "I know you wouldn't hit me in anger. You’re not like that Adds."

"I am so sorry, Cormac. I should have never raised my hand to you." Addison shook with fury at what Monty had done to Cormac. His Cormac. His sweet, over the top, loud and wonderful Cormac.

"Surprisingly it was not the physical abuse that did the most damage. It was the verbal and psychological abuse over the four years that left the lasting mark." Cormac stood up and walked over to the glass and gazed at the fish as they swam by. "After that I promised myself that I would only get serious with a guy who would take me as I am. No compromises."

"I hope I'm that guy." Addison asked gently, waiting for a response.

Cormac smiled and turned, looking him straight in the eyes. "I think you just might be that guy, Addison. Jury's still out though." His heart surged at the happiness that exploded across Addison's face. Bumping Addison in his chest with his shoulder, the two walked further into the exhibit.
